KEY FACTS

  • Economic Development is a critical component in the successful development of individuals, families and communities.
  • In 1999, the founder of the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope, James M. Evans, established the first African American Listing business directory; over 20,000  copies were distributed throughout the Tampa Bay area over a four- year period.
  • In 2004, James Evans called upon local individuals, agencies, groups and organizations to forge a new partnership – addressing the need for economic development within the African-American community of Tampa Bay.
